Welcome to the Ninth Working Conference on Current and Wave Measurement Technology.  The conference objectives are to provide the ocean community with a forum for technical information exchange and to promote coordination among those concerned with measuring currents.  The theme of this conference is "Advances in Current and Wave Measurement Technology and Observations."

CMTC was formed as a result of a working conference of engineers held in 1978 at the University of Delaware. The advisory board decided to hold a series of workshops only every four years because of the slow evolution of technology.  Conference locations are selected with a retreat atmosphere in mind to provide a captive audience with sufficient time for interactions.

Although current meters have changed since that first meeting in Delaware, many novel instruments having become commodities, the science and technology of current measurements including wave motions and turbulence, have continued to be a subject of interest.

This is the 30th anniversary of the CMTC workshops and we are enthusiastic about having as many of the original cast present as we can.
